What fissure sealing is
Sealing is the application of a special liquid material (sealant) to the tooth, which after light curing turns into a strong protective layer. It closes all microcracks and grooves, keeping plaque and bacteria out.
- The sealant looks like a clear or milky glossy varnish
- Service life is 2 to 3 years (depends on chewing load and care)
- The sealant should be checked at every preventive visit (every 6 months)
- If the material has partially worn off, it can easily be renewed — this takes a few minutes
