Nitrous oxide sedation

We understand that a visit to the dentist can cause a great deal of anxiety. If standard anaesthesia does not provide full comfort, the doctor may offer light sedation with nitrous oxide — you breathe through a soft mask and feel calm during treatment.
The doctor may recommend sedation if:

the patient feels strong anxiety or fear that interferes with treatment under local anaesthesia

the patient has a pronounced gag reflex

treatment of several teeth in a single visit is planned
What is nitrous oxide sedation?

Nitrous oxide sedation (known as “laughing gas”) is a gentle inhalation method of calming the patient before and during dental procedures. It does not switch off consciousness, but creates a feeling of relaxation and reduces anxiety, while pain relief is still provided by local anaesthesia.

Селевич Николай Николаевич, врач анестезиолог-реаниматолог
“Nitrous oxide sedation is a way to remove unnecessary stress and tension while keeping a clear mind. The patient stays in contact with the doctor but feels calmer and more confident throughout the treatment.”

Stages of the procedure
Preparation:a brief conversation with the doctor and trying on the mask
SEDATION:delivery of an oxygen and nitrous oxide mixture — the patient relaxes
TREATMENT:treatment takes place under local anaesthesia, without stress
Completion:switching to pure oxygen and a quick recovery from sedation
Safety and care

We use only modern equipment, the kind found in the world’s leading hospitals, which monitors all of the patient’s vital signs during treatment.

1

The gas dosage is selected individually and regulated by the device with high precision

2

An anaesthesiologist and an assistant monitor the patient’s condition throughout the entire procedure

3

Recovery from sedation takes just a few minutes and is carried out with a supply of pure oxygen

4

The method is suitable for both children and adults, as it does not overload the body and requires no lengthy recovery
